Nutraceuticals

Nutraceuticals is an amalgamation of two words - nutrient and pharmaceutical. The term “nutraceuticals” encompasses a broad range of products that are obtained from food sources and deliver surplus health benefits. In general, nutraceuticals have medical and health-related benefits. The idea behind the creation of nutraceuticals was the prevention of diseases and utilization of “food” as medication.

The key difference between pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals is that the latter is not supposed to undergo the same rigorous testing procedures as the pharmaceutical drugs. Nutraceuticals promote biological therapies for controlling and preventing diseases.
